The InsideHoops.com Baller of the Day for Monday's games is Cleveland's LeBron James, who in a 98-105 Cavs loss to Toronto shot 18-of-36 for 56 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals. James becomes the youngest player in NBA history to score 50 or more points in a game. And his 56 is a Cavs team record. ``I probably played the best game of my life but it means nothing when it comes with a loss,'' said James to the Associated Press and other media.
Vince Carter was incredible last night, with 39 points and 11 rebounds in New Jersey's 94-85 road win over Indiana.
Kevin Garnett was just ridiculous, putting up 30 points, 17 rebounds and six assists in Minnesota's 94-86 home win over Houston.
The AP reports: The Denver Nuggets activated forward Nene from the injured list for their game Sunday against Milwaukee, bringing back the former first-round draft pick after he missed 13 games with a sprained left knee. Nene, the seventh pick of the 2002 draft, has averaged 9.6 points and 5.9 rebounds a game this season. He finished with six points in 7 minutes in Denver's 114-103 win over the Bucks, and said he felt ``all right.''
The AP reports: Seattle star Ray Allen left the SuperSonics' game against the Los Angeles Lakers late in the first quarter Sunday night because of a sprained right ankle. Allen, an All-Star averaging 23.9 points, had six points, three assists and one rebound when he came out for good with 2:12 remaining in the opening period. There was no immediate word as to the severity of the injury.
Fanball reports: Bulls guard Chris Duhon hasn't been forced to miss any games due to a sprained right index finger suffered Wednesday night against the Nets, but it is affecting his play, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The finger was very swollen before Saturday's game against the Sixers, and required him to play with his index and middle fingers taped together. ''I've never played with my fingers taped together,'' he told the Sun-Times. ''I don't have as much control.''
Fanball reports: Grizzlies forward Pau Gasol was activated in time for Sunday's game against the Suns, according to the Associated Press. Gasol is the Grizzlies' leading scorer and rebounder, and was averaging 18.9 points and 8.2 rebounds before the injury forced him to miss 23 games.
Fanball reports: Spurs forward Tim Duncan fell victim to another ankle injury on Sunday. Moments after tip-off, Duncan rolled the same left ankle that he injured a couple weeks ago and immediately grabbed the ankle while falling to the floor in visible pain, according to the Associated Press. X-rays were negative and Duncan is listed as day-to-day, but head coach Gregg Popovich told the Press it was much worse than the injury a couple weeks ago and recovery could take a while.
The AP reports: San Antonio star Tim Duncan crumpled to the floor with a sprained right ankle in the opening minutes Sunday against the Detroit Pistons. The Spurs said X-rays were negative and Duncan is day to day, but coach Gregg Popovich indicated he doesn't expect Duncan to return soon. Before he left the arena, Duncan said he didn't know how serious the injury was. He missed two games earlier this month with a sprained right ankle. ``It's the same ankle that he sprained a couple weeks ago, but this was much worse,'' Popovich said after Detroit's 110-101 victory. ``It's going to be a while.''
